The countdown to half term is finally over! We have come to the end of the first half of this term. The successes realized is worth the well-deserved one week break. Thank you for the continued support.
Our seniors have been taking their Mid-Term Assessment Tests this week. At BKIS, we value assessment as it is a way to measure if the learning objectives of a subject are being met. Assessment is valuable for both students and teachers in evaluating progress. After Half Term they will receive their feedback as they plan to complete their IGCSE syllabus.
It was a privilege to have a delegation from Standard group in BKIS courtesy of Dhara Shah of Year 3 Class. She recently took part in a competition dubbed Young Talent Challenge where she emerged overall winner in her categories of Creative Writing & Reporting and Cartoon and Paint Work. It was very encouraging to see her receive TWO tablets. Congratulations are in order to Dhara for the great work. We are proud of her for flying BKIS flag yet again.
Tae Kwondo Tournament
Last Saturday, BKIS was well represented at the tournament held at the Goan Centre. The determination and commitment displayed by these young sportsmen and ladies was just amazing. Congratulations to Samantha, Dhara, Krit, Dedan and Kristina.
This week has been a special week to the teaching fraternity; a week when the world celebrated the Teachers! Thursday 5th October 2017 was the World Teachers’ Day under the theme of “Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers”. Thank you all to those who remembered to send encouraging messages to our dedicated teachers for the good impact they are creating in our students lives. One of the objectives of the day was:
- To celebrate and highlight the contribution of teachers, from pre-primary through to higher education, to the education and development of our future citizens.
And this has been captured quite well in our Braeburn circles of producing responsible citizens and confident individuals.
NYASA SWIMMING GALA
Last Saturday we had a big group of BKIS swimmers take part in the termly swimming gala organized by the local KSF branch at Aga Khan Primary School. The turnout was just amazing. Our swimmers showed a lot of resilience in their many races. Their level of commitment and dedication was commendable. Thank you to our parents who stayed on to cheer and support the BKIS team. It is also important to mention the great support received from our teachers. We had Mrs. Njihia, Ms. Irene, Mr.Ndungu, Mr.Rwenyo and Ms. Inyanje gracing the occasion in the absence of Mr. Azenga who was away on official duty in Narobi. What a good way to show TEAM work!
BRAEBURN SPORTS FESTIVAL
Our seniors were away in Nairobi last week to take part in this annual event. It is always a great opportunity to expose our learners to competitive sports and especially to interact with other students from Braeburn Family. Thank you Mr.Azenga and Ms.Mukui for leading the team to Nairobi.
The Early Years parents are happy to see the climbing Frame fixed as earlier promised. Over the half term, final touches will be done on it .We have also done a face lift to the library by fixing a book shelf as shown above. The children are glad to see these developments in the compound.
