Primary School
Based on the English National Curriculum, children in our Primary School (Year 1 – Year 6) are challenged to learn through discovery and pupil-led activities. To build on the strong foundation they receive in the classroom, students receive weekly homework in subjects including Mathematics, Communication Work, Reading, and Spelling.
Core academic subjects are complemented by subject-specific teaching in Physical Education, Music and the Creative Arts. We encourage children to take ownership of their learning, developing confidence, independence, and curiosity as they progress. Every learning opportunity, whether it is in the classroom, outdoors, or through wider school life, is maximised to inspire, challenge, and nurture each child to thrive academically and personally.

Learners Enjoying Success
We closely monitor each child’s progress through reading age assessments at the start of the year, weekly spelling tests, and regular ‘Topical Tests’ in Years 3 – 6. End-of-year assessments provide further insight into individual achievement, and formal National Curriculum (NC) Standardised Assessment Tests (SATs) are completed at the end of Year 2 and Year 6, allowing us to benchmark progress against international expectations.
By bringing these measures together, we can identify individual strengths, highlight areas for support, and ensure that every student is on a pathway to fulfil their potential.

Our Approach
Our approach to teaching is rooted in the British National Curriculum, designed to build knowledge and skills progressively in line with age-related expectations. In the lower years of Primary, learning is practical and hands-on, allowing children to explore, experiment, and engage their curiosity. As they move into the upper years, this naturally develops into greater independence, with a strong focus on study skills, critical thinking, and preparation for the next stage of education.
Children learn independently, in small groups, and as a whole class, with teachers tailoring their methods to suit the subject and the learners’ needs. Learning extends beyond sitting at a desk. Our classrooms and wider environment provide opportunities for active, creative, and collaborative learning that ensures every child flourishes.
