BKIS INTER-SCHOOL KS4 LITERATURE SYMPOSIUM

Theme: “NAILING THE UNSEEN PAPER”

Last week, on Friday 22nd September, KS4 students enjoyed an afternoon of interacting with their counterparts from Jalaram Senior Academy and Kisumu Senior Academy on how to have a meaningful interaction with the Unseen Poem and how to approach the Unseen Poetry task. The key aims of the event was to:

• Foster a love for Poetry
• Promote Peer to Peer learning
• Develop critical and literary analysis skills

And most importantly,

• Improve communication and social engagement in larger group dynamics

There was an extensive array of presentations on key aspects of the Unseen Poem ranging from imagery, structure, language, tone/attitude (including the poet’s intention) and how these are the building blocks used to present the subject matter.

Moreover, the candidate class surpassed expectations in how they have clearly honed their critical thinking skills and can confidently present their ideas to others with an assured presence and personal engagement.
