28th May 2024
The recent school chess tournament, held on 18th May, was a resounding success, showcasing the strategic prowess and competitive spirit of our student body. The event attracted participants from the age of 12 and under, creating an electrifying atmosphere filled with anticipation and intellectual excitement. The tournament followed a Swiss-system format, ensuring that each player faced opponents of similar skill levels throughout the rounds. This approach provided a fair and engaging experience for both seasoned players and newcomers to the game.
Special recognition goes to the tournament's youngest participant, Kaylee Dejong year 1, whose performance was particularly impressive and promises a bright future in chess. The event was not only a competition but also a learning experience. It was even more rewarding to note that Jheel S. emerged best overall in the U10 category and brought the trophy home! Congratulations to the entire team.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants for their hard work and sportsmanship. This tournament highlighted the intellectual talent within our school and has set a high standard for future competitions. We look forward to seeing even more students participate and excel in next year’s tournament.
