WEEK 3 NEWS

Week 3

The recent announcement of the resumption of in-person learning elicited considerable excitement amongst the BKIS community throughout this week. As BKIS community, and based on our annual target of being R.E.A.D.Y, we look forward to having all the students in school. It is also important to mention that as part of our moral, health, ethical and professional obligations, ALL our staff members received their COVID -19 jabs before we closed the last term and are just waiting for the announcement of when the second dose will be administered.

This term being the last one of the academic year, it is important that we grab this opportunity of physical reopening to consolidate our content coverage.

In a bid to keep every member of BKIS safe, the already established COVID-19 protocols are going to be strictly adhered to while in school. Some important reminders are as below:

School Timings

The teachers will be at hand to welcome students as early as 7.30 a.m. (with the exception of the EYFS group). The drop-off point will remain at the main school gate where the temperature checks will be done before entry into classes.

The school will end at 12:30 pm for Creche and FS1 classes while for the rest of the students it will be at 3.10 p.m. with students on school transport being released first. The students not on school transport will wait for their parents or guardians from their classes. Our teachers on duty will direct parents accordingly during pick-up times.

BKIS compound

Because of the required health protocols, we continue to have the following as our new normal:

  • Signage: Within the school compound, there are posters reminding everyone of important points on social distancing, face masking, etc.
  • Demarcated play areas for EYFS, KS1, LKS2, UKS2, and High School.
  • Additional handwashing points.
  • New class arrangements
  • Sanitizers and wipes in each classroom

Requirements for on-site learning

  • Mask (a spare mask in a sealed container recommended)
  • Stationery (sharing will not be permitted)
  • Snacks enough for the day
  • Lunch that will not require warming (delivery of lunch every day to school is discouraged)
  • Laptop on the day computing is timetabled for KS2 & KS1
  • Laptop/Tablet for KS3 & 4
  • Sanitiser in a pocket-size container(optional)

Supervision & protocols for on-site learning

Protocols will be upheld as outlined in the Hygiene and Health Handbook. In addition, supervision during breaks will be carried out with due diligence by both class and subject teachers with strict adherence to demarcated sections for the class bubbles as has been defined.

Best wishes.

Mr.S. Atonga.
