READING IN ACTION

A child who reads will be an adult who thinks. BKIS students do love reading. With the relaxing atmosphere in our library, offering a wide range of books suitable from EYFS to High school...who wouldn't! So... what else do we have in the Library?

We have a collection of 7343 different books which fall in the categories below:

  • Picture books - This section has a lot of fiction stories with pictures and is loved and used by our children in EYFS and KS1
  • Junior Fiction - This section has fiction books and is used by Lower KS2. The books here include mysteries, adventurous, historical Fiction, Fairy Tales e.t.c.
  • Senior Fiction - This section is used by the students in Upper KS2 and Senior school. The books here are amazing and not forgetting that some are series which our students love.
  • Class readers - These are usually Oxford Reading Tree books in different levels. The books in this section start from level 1 to level 16.
  • MFL section - Here books are in two languages; French and Kiswahili.
  • Poetry - Books in this section are poems and the students use them to understand poetry better.
  • Biographies- We have a little bit of this section in our library.
  • Horrible History and Horrible Geography- BKIS library has this section that is loved by children in primary.
  • Graphical Novels.
  • Textbooks - Learning is best when there are books supporting the same and as BKIS we have books in all subjects for all our students.
