Newsletter 1 - Term 3 2018-2019

26th April 2019

It is exciting to welcome you back from the short Easter break. We are glad to have the students back looking well rested and ready for the final term of the academic year. It is always a pleasure to welcome new members of BKIS.

Term Values

As we continue with the Annual Target of Team Excellence, our term values are Respect and Thoughtfulness. In our opening assembly, we brainstormed on what it means to be respectful and agreed that:

  • Respect starts with individual; we need to practice self-respect
  • We have to acknowledge each person’s intrinsic value
  • We have to always treat others the way we would like to be treated
  • We have to listen to each other.

We also continue with the aspects of Growth Mind-set in our operations.

National Chess Championship

As was communicated earlier, two BKIS students participated in this tournament that was held over the Easter break in Nyeri County.

We must congratulate Deven and Dhara for the great results they posted in their respective categories given that it was their first time!

Clubs and After School Activities

It is encouraging to note that majority of the club forms are back and Ms. Donia is getting ready to publish the lists in readiness for next week. As stated in the form, all unpaid clubs will be slotted to all students at “first come, first served” basis.

For the paid clubs, students are not allowed to join without a signed club form by a parent/guardian.

The payments for paid clubs should be done at the beginning of the term or at the time of registration. This will allow prompt payment to the peripatetic teachers in charge of these clubs.

The schedule for the after school sports is out. This term we have, Health and Fitness, Swimming, Netball, Football and Dancing on offer. All children are expected to come properly kitted for the activities.

End of KS3 tests

The year 9 students are sitting for their end of Ks3 tests which should end next week Tuesday. Already they have made choices of the subject options for the IGCSE syllabus. From next week Thursday they will officially start the IGCSE syllabus. We wish them well in their studies as they start this important phase of their learning.

Inter Braeburn Swimming Gala

Our swimming team is getting ready for the annual inter Braeburn swimming gala to be held next week on 4th May in Nairobi. Mr. Azenga has already had a meeting with the team and will keep them updated as we approach the date. The team will travel to Nairobi next week Friday to be back on Sunday 5th May.

Mater Heart Run 2019

This will take place on the 25th May 2019. As usual BKIS will be taking part in this great venture to give back to the community. Sponsorship forms will be given to students to help raise funds from well-wishers. Every year, any student raising above Ksh.5,000 receives a special token of appreciation from the Mater Hospital.
